EVERY year hundreds of foreign tourists visit Gilgit-Baltistan, especially Baltistan, to see its natural beauty and for mountaineering purposes because out of the 10 highest mountains in the world four are in Baltistan.

But Skardu airport is totally dependent on weather as many scheduled flights are cancelled because of bad weather. Thus tourists face a lot of problems.

The same situation is faced by Nepal but its government has upgraded all their international airports with the latest weather technology equipment for boosting tourism.

If our government upgrades Skardu airport to all-weather technology, it will contribute to the national economy and also create jobs for locals .
