SEHWAN Sharif Airport was one of the hallmark achievements of Sindh’s former chief minister (late) Syed Abdullah Shah. When it was functional, people from all over the country would fly to the city to visit the shrine of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
The easy commute enabled international donors to come and monitor development projects in the area. It was also a good source of revenue for PIA and income for the area residents.
During this time, many people realised the convenience of a 30-minute flight between Sehwan and Karachi.
It helped connect this part of Sindh with the rest of the country and by extension the world.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, PIA authorities and the ministries concerned should reopen this airport.
