HYDERABAD: Students and teachers of the department of media and communication studies, University of Sindh, took out a rally to mark the World Press Freedom Day on Wednesday.

Carrying banners and placards and shouting slogans for press freedom and protection to journalists, they marched from the SU Old Campus to the Hyderabad Press Club.

The department’s chairman Prof Badar Soomro and teachers Dr Bashir Memon, Prof Siddique Soomro and Dr Shazia Shaikh who led the rally highlighted the services and sacrifices of media workers and journalists in the line of duty.

They urged the government to take necessary steps to ensure protection to journalists.
