CHARSADDA: A watchman and his Afghan friend were gunned down at the guesthouse (hujra) of a retired DSP at Matta Mughalkhel village on the outskirts of Shabqadar early on Wednesday, police said.

Officials said that wife of the watchman identified as Anwar Shah reported to the police that her husband and his Afghan friend, Ghafoor, were at the guesthouse of retired DSP Yaqub Khan at Matta Mughalkhel when nephew of Ghafoor along with his accomplices opened fire on them. As a result, her husband and Ghafoor were killed.

She said that Ghafoor and his nephew had some money dispute which led to the incident. Shabqadar police registered an FIR and have started investigations.

In another incident, Owais Khan, 18, a resident of Sokhta village of Shabqadar tehsil, attempted to commit suicide after exchange of hot words with his father and shot himself. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The police have registered a case on the report of his brother, Haris Khan.
