Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan on Thursday said that the body wishes to hold eight Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 matches in the country, it has been learnt.

The PCB chairman reportedly said that the board will try to hold four matches of the PSL third edition in Karachi, while four in Lahore.

While briefing the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Shehryar Khan said that eight matches during the PSL 2018 will be played in Pakistan, DawnNews reported.

He said, "It is hoped that half of those matches will be played in Karachi whereas the remaining will be played in Lahore."

During the standing committee's session, Khan said that the PSL 2017 final held at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium in January was a "huge success" and had generated "higher TV rating than any India-Pakistan match."

Increasing the scope of spot-fixing probe

Members of the committee present during Thursday's session questioned that why only the players are investigated in the event of a spot-fixing scandal, and not team managers who accompany the players for their matches abroad.

The committee then decided that team managers will also be investigated in regard to spot-fixing scandals.

The PCB chairman briefed the committee regarding the spot-fixing scandal that had surfaced during the second edition of PSL.

Khan told the committee that Mohammad Irfan ─ one of the five players involved in the scandal ─ accepted his mistake and has been reprimanded.

Investigations against Sherjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Nasir Jamshed and Shahzaib Khan ─ also involved in the spot-fixing scandal ─ are on-going, the PCB chairman told the committee.

"Investigations against Nasir Jamshed are ongoing in England as well and therefore, he is unable to come to Pakistan," Khan apprised the NA body.
