HYDERABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid a visit to Hyderabad Garrison on Friday and was briefed on operational and administrative matters regarding cantonments of Hyderabad and Thar, says a statement.
The COAS was apprised that army had distributed almost 4,000 tonnes of ration bags, benefitting more than 190,000 families through its continuous initiative since 2014.
Army had also organised medical camps in Thar which helped 161,000 patients in underprivileged areas and provided water supply in the desert region which was now reaching 600,000 people and 700,000 livestock.
The COAS appreciated the efforts of the army and said that Pakistan Army was proud to have undertaken nation-building projects across the country in pursuit of the institution’s continuous services to the people of the country.
He also addressed officers and troops of Hyderabad Garrison.
Earlier on his arrival in Hyderabad, the COAS was received by Lt-Gen Shahid Baig Mirza, Commander of Karachi Corps.
