MURREE: Former president Asif Ali Zardari has said the PPP would form the next government and the party workers should forge unity in their ranks.
He stated this while talking to a delegation from NA 50 which met him at the Zardari House to discuss the political situation in the constituency after the departure of former PPP MNA Murtaza Satti, who recently joined the PTI.
Mr Zardari assured the delegation that the next candidate from the constituency should be a local party worker.
The constituency of NA 50 comprises Murree, Kotli Sattiyan, Kahuta and some union councils of Kalar Syedan. In the 2002 elections, Murtaza Satti was elected as the MNA from the area after defeating Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Mr Satti was made the president of the PPP Rawalpindi division about two months before he left the party.
The former president advised the workers to keep unity and expedite the mass contact campaign in the constituency, adding the departure of the former MNA, who he termed an opportunist, would not make any difference for the PPP.
On the invitation of the party workers, Mr Zardari also announced to address a public meeting in Murree in the first week of June.
The delegation included PPP Member Federal Council Jabbar Satti, Rawalpindi chapter president Chaudhry Zaheer Sultan, Murree president Nazir Abbasi, Kotli Sattiyan president Asad Satti, Shaukat Abbasi, Ashiq Abbasi, Khawar Abbasi and Sanaul Haq Satti.
