Once there was a mother who didn’t know about Mother’s Day. Her son and daughter planned a surprise for her on Mother’s Day. So on the second Sunday of May, they woke up before their mother and decorated the whole house with ribbons and balloons.

They had made a strawberry cake the day before when their mother was out buying groceries and hidden it. Strawberry was their mother’s favourite fruit. They also made tea and kept it with a flower bouquet and cake on the dining table.

At exactly seven o’clock, they went to her room to wake her up and wish her a happy Mother’s Day. She got a big surprise seeing them up so early.

She asked them, “Why are you up so early on a Sunday?”

They said, “Happy Mother’s Day!” Then they both jumped on the bed and hugged her.

She asked in surprise, “What is Mother’s Day?”

They said, “It is a day when mothers rest and their kids do everything. After this they held her hand and took her to the decorated dining room to give her a bigger surprise — a well-laid table with the cake they had baked!

When mother saw the wonderful decoration by the kids and what they had prepared for her, she was super happy. With tears in her eyes, mother said, “Thank you, my loves. I am so lucky to have such loving and caring children.”

The siblings replied, “Welcome” and they all shared a big family hug.
