KARACHI: Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair said on Sunday that the prime minister had announced Rs1 million and Rs500,000 compensation each for the heirs of the labourers who were killed and injured in an attack by gunmen near Gwadar in Balochistan a day before.

All the victims belonged to Huzoor Bux village near Naushahro Feroze, Sindh.

The prime minister had termed the attack a conspiracy against the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project and vowed to foil it, said the governor in a press statement.

An FIR has been registered at Gwadar levies station against unknown assailants on a complaint lodged by a labourer Qadir Bakhsh who was injured in the attack.

Ten labourers were gunned down and one was injured when the assailants riding motorcycles opened fire on them at two construction sites, three kilometers from each other along the same road in the Pishgan area in Gwadar.

The deceased were identified as Ali Dost, Shaaban, Mohammad Khan, Rasool Bux, Abdul Hakeem, Saddam Hussain, Waheed, Zaheer and Asif. A labourer was injured in the attack.
