NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Social Affairs Shamim Mumtaz announced on Monday that the Sindh government would give Rs1 million compensation and one job each to the families of the labourers who were gunned down by unknown assailants in Gwadar on May 13.

Ms Mumtaz, who visited Haji Mohammad Siddique Lakho village, about 30km from here, to condole with the bereaved families on behalf of the Sindh government, told journalists that in addition to the compensation, the social welfare department would establish a sewing centre in the village so that poor girls could learn tailoring and be able to earn their livelihood.

She said that a road and other basic facilities would also be provided to the village as demanded by the villagers.

The adviser was accompanied by MPA Shahnaz Ansari during the visit.

Ten labourers were killed and another was wounded when a group of assailants riding motorcycles opened fire on them while they were busy working on a road that was to connect remote towns with the port city of Gwadar.

All the labourers hailed from Haji Mohammad Siddique Lakho village in Kandiaro taluka of Naushahro Feroze district. The victims also included three brothers.
