A woman was killed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) during the early hours of Friday in what officials said is the latest ceasefire violation by Indian troops.
Farzand Begum, 60, wife of Noor Hussain, perished when a shell landed on her house and exploded.
The woman was a resident of Naali village in Bhimber district, Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Guftaar said.
Naali village, which falls in tehsil Barnala, is adjacent to the Samahni sector, which has been hit frequently by Indian troops in the recent past.
Shelling began in the area at around 3am, and the casualty occurred between 4 and 5am, Additional Station House Officer Hanif Ali said.
He added that since mobile phones do not work in the hilly area, they had sent a constable to ascertain details.
With the latest fatality, the number of killings in cross-border firing incidents in the ongoing month has risen to three on the Pakistani side, while at least 30 others have been injured.

Yet another tragic, illogical, unwarranted, immoral and uncalled for war crime committed by the "brave" million plus Indian army illegally and unethically deployed in the India-held and India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Mind it please that sooner than later, the India army including their "movers and shakers" in New Delhi have to be held responsible for all these war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetuated and committed in a non-stop on-going operations since last 70 long years.

Both countries have demonstrated their utter foolishness for decades. In their petty fight, US, China, Europe etc have milked money and grew their economy multi-folds. Both nations are rated poverty stricken even after being most resourceful and having hardworking people. Both squander the advantage in the fight and also kill innocents. It's strange that after decades of squabble, none of us have learnt. I am pretty hopeless that our nations will ever grow up to understand how foreign forces have kept us in a perpetual mess for their own greater benefits. People dying from bullets are far few, people dying of poverty are far greater in number because we spend all our earnings on armed forces and nuclear weapons. Long live rest of the world for successfully making fool out of two nations for decades in past and decades to come.
