Oil factory catches fire in Multan

MULTAN: Up to 23 fire engines were being used to control a massive fire on Tuesday at 11pm that erupted at Basheer Oil Mills on Vehari Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Talking to APP, Rescue 1122 spokesman Abdul Jabbar Bhatti said that according to local people the fire started after some fault in the main generator of the mill.

He said that all possible resources were being utilised to control the ablaze. He said that 12 fire engines of Rescue 1122 of Multan, two of Muzaffargarh and two of Khanewal, and six vehicles of the Multan city district government fire service and one of the Civil Aviation were participating in the operation.

Mr Bhatti said about 50 per cent of the fire had been controlled.

Information officer Waseem Yousaf said that the nearby buildings and factories had been evacuated.
