Independence Day tennis

LAHORE, Aug 4: Twelve matches were held on first day of the All-Punjab Independence Day Junior tennis tournament in different age categories at the Punjab Tennis Association coaching centre on Monday.

Only four of the six grass courts could be used as two courts were not in use due to rains.

 Boys singles Under-12 matches were held on hard courts as planned and boys singles Under-14 and 18 matches on grass courts.

Following are the results:

Boys singles U-12: Saad Mubarik bt Mohsin Aslam 6-0, 6-0; Usman Rafique bt Shehraz Habib Oberoi 6-0, 6-2; Rohail Rafi bt Waleed Saboor 6-1, 6-0; Danish Ilyas bt Hamza Saboor 6-3, 6-0; Aniq Waqas bt Burhan Saeed 7-6, 6-4.

Boys singles U-14: Tanvir Munir bt Tariq Butt 6-0, 6-1; Waqas Malik bt Hamza Muntzar 6-2, 6-2; Salman Siafi bt Mustafa 7-5, 6-4.

Under-18: Shehryar Niazi bt Ihsan Khan 6-0, 6-0; Omer Latif bt Hammad Ahmad 6-3, 6-1; Talal Khan bt Saad Mir 6-1, 6-1; Ibad-ur-Rehman bt Hasham Muntzar 6-2, 6-3.
