GUJAR KHAN: A group of burglars stole Rs149,000 from a number of shops at Railway Road in Gujar Khan city on Friday.

Police, however, succeeded in arresting one of the burglars.

Dost Mohammad Khokar, a trader of Railway Road, reported to the police that a group of burglars broke into his shop and many other shops in the area and looted Rs149,000.

However, the police arrested one of the alleged outlaws who confessed to committing the crime, while his accomplices are at large.

Raids are being conducted for their arrest, the SHO Gujar Khan Nadeem Zafar claimed.

Separately, two married women went missing in Gujar Khan city.

A resident of Habib Kanial village reported to the local police that his wife and sister-in-law went to Gujar Khan city two days ago and later their mobile phones went off and they did not return home.

The complainant further reported that both were wearing gold ornaments.

They might have been kidnapped, the man feared.

The police have registered a case and started investigations.
