Defending champion India hit 72 crucial runs in the last four overs, with Pandya ending on 20 off six deliveries. Most of those came during a costly 23-run last over for Imad Wasim (0-66), making it an even bigger challenge for Pakistan's unproven batting lineup.
India had seemed to slumber in the middle of its innings after reaching 136-0 at an overcast Edgbaston but a key partnership came from Kohli and Yuvraj for the third wicket.
A minute's silence was held before the match for the victims of the London Bridge attacks on Saturday night, amid heavy security at the West Midlands ground.
“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by what has happened in London overnight,” the ICC said in a statement released Sunday.

felt sad when wahad riaz was in pain even before delivery of the ball & then went down. Bowlers are really under pressure & then the game has shifted more towards the batters.. thanksless job. Get well soon wahab ... wishes from Bangalore, INDIA

Felt bad for Wahab. He is a phenomenal bowler but seems to be in discomfort and pain. He has a big heart along with talent. Pcb should ensure that such treasures are nurtured.

Practice, Practice is the key to success, Pakistan players are careless about this. There is lesson in watching circus, how intricate actions are carried out through minute accuracy. We have fast bowlers, take help of photography and overcome batting weaknesses. Carry out exercises to move hand and bat at short notice from the bowler.

I was Chief Mate on MV Moenjodaro in 1978 and I saw live in B&W TV Sarfraz taking 7 for 1 run against Australia. Watched nearly every match after that. Did not see anything worst than today. All are Responsible from Saeed Anwar to Inzamam and Akrams. Never did any effort for Country only worked for their personnel targets. RIP cricket will start following Soccer Now.

Agree 200%. Just imagine how many schools could be built in our Coach's salary. Add to that all players incomes, including the money spent on Cricket grounds, electricity. Just imagine how many hospitals could be opened. But hey, in our nation, Cricket is more important than human lives.

Being an Indian and Indian Fan I am happy with the results yesterday. But bit disappointed to see the performance of Pakistan, they were agreeing defeat right after indian innings. There was not intent for a win from Pak Side. Pak cricket board and former players should intervene and find solution to boost up the morale of their team and find ways to induct new talents. It is disappointing to see such pathetic performance from a team once represented by legends likes Imran, Wasim Akram, Saeed Anwar etc.

Being Indian I love India win. But when Pak plays any other team... I enjoy- Pak performing well. Hope Amir and Riaz recover, and I hope they dont keep on changing captains

India has clear upper hand even before start of the game. Both board should sit together and start the bilateral series. Even next IPL we should have some Pak players. It will have a lot of change in young Pak players. Look Hardik Pandya in last over for three sixes. It is clear IPL effect.

@gurpreet singh I have heard this argument that if the catches were taken, Pakistan could / would have won... But all are forgetting that after Yuvi, Dhoni was to come in. You may have still seen more fireworks, perhaps even worse if Dhoni and Pandya were in a bit earlier ha ha ha.

Contrary to popular perception, PCB or any cricket board for that matter, does not gets money from Govt. They are private organization and survive due to popularity of cricket among masses which brings them huge money from telecast. Now for schools, electricity, roads etc. you should be cursing your govt if they are not in place.
