Great quiz about a great cricketer. I still remember watching his first test match as a teenager at the famous and historic Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore against New Zealand in which he scored a test debut century.
It merits mention that he batted brilliantly from the word go in his maiden test appearance. In fact, he was playing at 92 not out and hit three consecutive fours to reach his test debut hundred.
Rest is history.
I also had the opportunity of a life-time to watch that famous 1986 Australasia Cup's grand final (India versus green-shirts) in which Javed Miandad hit a winning lofty six to the mid-wicket boundary off the last ball of the match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE and thereafter, saw all subsequent ODI matches in which Javed Miandad played at that historic venue.
Congratulations to a great cricketer on his 60th birthday. May God Almighty grant him long life, better health, bundles of wealth and a happy and terrific time in the days to come. Aameen, Tsum Aameen.

Cricket has been my first and only love sport so far. Miandad had just started his career when I was teenage and have followed his game closely throughout his career. I had one very strong feeling in his playing days, whenever he would be at crease, it was my strong believe that one end is SAFE because Minadad in there. I had very strong believe in his ability to stay at wicket for long. He was really a fighter batsman who would never give less than 100%!!

Watched his third test match at the National Stadium (Oct 1976) where he missed the second hundred of the game by 15. He had a double hundred in the first inning. Was already more sought after than the other stars in the team. BTW, we sat in the VIP stands and interacted with the players. Amazing memories!

No one fought harder for his country than Miandad. Really thankful to him for providing us so much joy and pride. I remember Miandad fighting for Pakistan in sickness and even in matches that should have been stopped due to bad light. I distinctly remember Pakistan playing the west Indies and match going into the evening and Miandad continued to bat in almost darkness. Facing the fast bowlers until the end. Eventually Viv Richards called his team (fielding) out due to risk of injury but the batsman Miandad wanted to continue until Pakistan won the match.

He was a real fighter and team player. Pakistan has not produced any other reliable and consistent player of his caliber. Not dropping the average below 50 during 124 tests career speaks a lot itself. Further, he scored centuries in his first, 50th and 100th tests as well as innings. The real hero of 1992 world cup, having scored 437 runs with five 50s, only second to martin crowe's 457. He won most of the tests without Imran's presence and support while Imran won all his tests with full backing of Miandad !

Javed; very gutsy and witty batsmen of cricket. Most Karachi players still follow his legacy behind. Basit Ali, Rashid and now Sarfaraz:

Javed Miandad was selected when A.H. Kardar was chairman of selection committee and Air-Martial Nur Khan was the chairman of PCCB. In the present scenario with Inzimam most probably Javed Miandad would never have played for Pakistan like many brilliant cricketers from Karachi.
The sole representative of this city Karachi in current Pakistan team is Sarfaraz Ahmad. How many knows that despite being the best wicket-keeper batsman he was never considered for selection. He was called in an emergency when all Akmal brothers were injured and Zulqarnain Haider has gone to England because of a rift with the board. Sarfaraz played a match winning innings and since then he has been regularly performing. Waqar Younus and Misbah tried to get rid of him during the WC 2015 by introducing 20 lbs. over weight Nasir Jamshed who scored 4 runs in 4 innings. Later on public and media pressure Waqar sent Sarfaraz to the lion's den as an opener against South Africa. he won two man of the match .
