SWABI: Unidentified miscreants hurled a hand grenade onto the house of Swabi DSP in broad daylight in the city here on Monday, police said.

The house attacked is situated under the nose of the city police station where always a policeman remains on duty.

Offices and residences of SP, deputy commissioner, Swabi judicial lockup and other important offices are located there. “It was 10.45am that some unidentified militants hurled a hand grenade on the house of DSP Izhar Shah, but no one was injured,” said a police official.

It was learnt that at the time of attack the DSP was not present in his house, but his two sons, a daughter and wife was there. “DSP Izhar Shah who belongs to Mardan usually remains alone in the house but due to Ramazan, his family was also here,” said an official.

Soon after the attack, a search operation was launched, but till filing of this report it was not clear how many suspects had been arrested.

An FIR has been registered against unidentified militants in the city police station.
