ISLAMABAD: A short training camp of the national squad gearing up for the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports team event and 6-Red Snooker Championship started here at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Wednesday.

The said event will be held from June 28 to July 5 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Earlier, the event that was scheduled to start on May 13 was postponed due to landslides in the host country.

A four-member national team, announced by the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF), comprising Mohammad Sajjad, Asjad Iqbal, Mohammad Bilal and Babar Masih will undergo training at the Pakistan Sports Complex.

The training camp will continue till June 22 after which the team will proceed to Karachi from where it will leave for Bishkek, most probably on June 27.

The players will be training under the supervision of senior cueist Mohammad Sajjad.

PBSF president Munawwar Hussain Shaikh, while speaking to Dawn, expressed optimism that all four cueists had the potential to win laurels for the nation in the said event.

Meanwhile, PBSF technical adviser Naveed Kapadia said the team underwent two practice sessions on Wednesday.

“We hope our players who have experience and talent will fare well in the upcoming championship,” he said.
