Minnie Mouse heels are here

Fans of Disney Land and its characters will be delighted to know that Minnie Mouse heels are here now. Subtly designed, these black stilettos feature Minnie’s ears on the back of the ankle — meaning that at first glance, the Disney-theme isn’t too obvious.

Because the ears are at the back, the design can also be easily hidden depending on whether you fancy a Disney-fied look or one that’s casual — you can just cover the ears with a long skirt or trousers.

Shoe label Oscor Tiye and Italian designer Muaddi collaborated on the design. The heels have been crafted in two styles — stiletto heel and blocked heel, depending on what people find comfier to wear. Unfortunately the one-strap sandals have been advertised at quite the price — ranging anywhere between £415 and £690, depending on the style.

Rose-shaped doughnuts bouquet

Buying someone flowers with an add-on of sweet something is absolutely a perfect present but why not combine both and buy one beautiful yet yummy treat?

New York’s Doughnut Plant has the right idea. They’ve just unveiled a magical new doughnut that’s shaped like a rose. Yup. They’ve managed it. They’ve made eating a doughnut feel somewhat elegant. That is no easy feat to achieve.

The glorious creations are called Doughflowers, naturally, and come in three flavours: strawberry, blood orange and rose. They look like flowers thanks to overlapping petals made of dough. As with all delicious things, they’re far, far away from us. Doughflowers are only available at Doughnut Plant’s locations around New York, so if you fancy trying one, you’ll need to book a plane ticket.

Morbidly obese monkey ‘Uncle Fat’ in rehab

A morbidly obese wild monkey is in rehab and undergoing a strict diet of lean protein, fruits and vegetables. Nicknamed ‘Uncle Fat’ by locals at a Bangkok market, the chunky monkey ballooned after gorging itself on junk food and soft drinks left behind by tourists.

Wildlife officials caught the animal after photos of the plump primate started circulating on social media last month.

Supakarn Kaewchot, a vet in charge of the monkey’s diet, said: “He is now in a critical condition where there is a high-risk of heart disease and diabetes.”

Wild monkeys, commonly macaques like Uncle Fat, roam free in many parts of Thailand.

These animals typically weigh about 20lbs. At roughly 60lb Uncle Fat, believed to be aged between 10 and 15, is three times that. Veterinarians hope to release the monkey within a few months. Vet Kaewchot said: “Please don’t feed them food that people like to eat like snacks and soda. It is very bad for their health and the problem is entirely man-made.”

A doughnut from space on display

A Missouri doughnut shop is giving customers the opportunity to view a pastry that survived a journey to space and back.

Kansas City-based doughnut shop, Donutology, created a display for its “Space Doughnut” that reached an altitude of 97,000 feet during a nearly four-hour journey that saw it travel 253 miles between earth and space. Donutology is owned by Andrew Cameron.

The doughnut was preserved using a thick layer of protective silicon, which left it inedible but allowed it to survive the trip to space. Donutology unveiled an interactive display featuring the Space Doughnut under glass alongside a deflated weather balloon, a map of the flight path and a video depicting the doughnut’s journey.

Visitors will be able to take photos with the Space Doughnut and purchase T-shirts commemorating the space launch.
