LAHORE: Dust storm and rain lashed some cities in central and upper Punjab, including Lahore, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Saturday providing relief from the oppressive weather of the past three days.

The storm in Lahore with a velocity of 84km per hour was coupled with rain, making the weather pleasant. It remained partly cloudy afterwards.

The Met department said thunderstorm with gusty winds occurred at isolated places in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Multan, Malakand, Peshawar divisions and Islamabad.

Sialkot recorded 27mm of rain, Lahore 25, Gujranwala 22, Kasur 15, Chakwal 14, Rawalpindi 14, Islamabad 8, Gujrat 9, Mianwali 8, Multan 6, Mandi Bahauddin 5, Mangla 4, Bhakkar, Jhelum 1, Cherat 9, Kalam 3 and Dir 2. The department expected mainly hot and dry weather in most parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

However, rain/dust storm with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Zhob, Hazara divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir.
