SUKKUR: Girls outshined boys in annual examination for matriculation held by the Board of Inter­mediate and Secondary Edu­cation (BISE), Sukkur, acco­r­ding to a notification issued on Monday.

In science group, Ms Faaiza Shaikh of the Bahria Foundation College secured the first position by obtaining 772 marks, Ms Aina Gul Qureshi of the City School grab­bed the second with 770 marks and Zubair Ahmed Mirbahar of the Mehran Model School and Ruqiyya Soomro of the Ever Shine Higher Secondary School jointly secured the third place with 769 marks, it said.

It said that a total of 49,052 boys and girls appeared in the examination. Of them, 2011 were pla­c­ed in grade A-1, 8,909 in A, 11,854 in B, 11,038 in C, 3,371 in D and 29 candidates could barely make it to grade E.

In general group, a total of 2,772 boys and girls appea­red in the exam but no one could secure grade A-1 or A. As many as 343 were placesd in grade B, 919 in C, 742 in D and 36 in grade E.
