A five-year-old girl in the town of Besham Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Shangla district was allegedly raped and strangled by a suspected repeat offender, police told DawnNews on Wednesday.
District Police Officer (DPO) Besham Rahatullah Khan said that the girl had gone missing from her house in the morning but her body was found wrapped in three sacks around 4pm near the residence of the 55-year-old suspect.
The young girl's body was taken to the Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Besham but due to unavailability of a female doctor, the case was transferred to District Headquarters Hospital Alpuri for autopsy and a post-mortem examination.
The DPO said that doctors, after the autopsy, held the view that the girl had been raped.
Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) following the autopsy, and the suspect, Jumaraz, was nominated in the FIR and arrested.
Station House Officer (SHO) Habib Syed claimed the suspect had been involved in such cases in the past.
The SHO said the suspect's entire family would be taken in for interrogation because the victim's sandals were recovered from the roof of the suspect's house.
The DPO said a special investigation team headed by Deputy Superintendent Police Besham Bashir Khan had been constituted to investigate the case and ascertain the culprits responsible immediately, for which efforts are underway.

Instead of having their faces covered or hidden, these abhorrent culprits' faces should be shown clearly to the public, their pictures plastered on the front pages of every newspaper and social media outlet. They are the perpetrators, the scum of the earth and everyone should be aware of these criminals because soon enough.......they will be out and about repeating their sins unless stopped forcefully by spreading awareness.
Only their victims should be covered and protected.

We hear such cruelty news every second day in Islamic of Pakistan . Neither fear of society nor law deter such criminals. For the pleasure of few moments they take innocent lives knowing fully well that they will be caught and punished. This type of crime needs to be examined by sexualogists, psychologists and neurologist . It is state of mind and body that pushes a man to commit such acts and crime. Some way has to be found to this problem.

My heart bled as I read this report. Especially when I read "Station House Officer (SHO) Habib Syed claimed the suspect had been involved in such cases in the past." If that is the case then the animal should have been locked up and this ghastly crime would have been prevented. I beg the authorities to not show any mercy from this point forward towards him or anyone else of his type.

mentality? this is a kind of social cancer. yes...but i will not stretch the issue. I will go for the solution. 1. always keep your children aware from such incidents (even if they are children). 2. Not to be lured by chocolates or such things that will attract from a stranger. 3. Police should not be limited to current culprit/criminal. 4. social media awareness should be more stronger. people should use Facebook, twitter etc to aware parents. 5. hardest punishment must be awarded to such kind of criminals and their family should be boycotted by the society. 6. Literacy should increase. 7. sex knowledge should be given to all types of aged people.

My heart is bleeding with the horrendous crime of child rape and murder in Besham-Shangla district. In another two cases at Nowshera and Chachro rape cases in the Holly month of Ramazan is beyond the imagination of humanity. All the three cases must be referred to speedy trial courts under the terrorist act and publicly punished them to avoid such occurrence in future.
We also wish to appeal to the Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court and Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan to take Sue moto action for exemplary action.
