LAHORE: A man allegedly killed an eight-year-old boy by hitting him with a brick in Meherpura locality of Shahdara on Wednesday.

Police claimed that Haider Ali was playing in Tokriyanwala Bazaar when Shahbaz alias Bajo, who was said to be mentally challenged, hit him with a brick. The minor suffered critical injuries in the head and died on the spot.

Locals alerted the police who reached the spot, collected forensic evidences and recorded statements of witnesses. They later shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a murder case against Shahbaz at Begum Kot police checkpost on the complaint of victim’s father Jameel.

City Division Superintendent of Police Adil Memon claimed that they had arrested Shahbaz who was mentally challenged. He said Ali was allegedly creating noise in the street which might have irritated Shahbaz who bricked him to death.
