MUZAFFARABAD: Two people were critically injured in Azad Jammu and Kashmir in unprovoked firing by Indian forces from across the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday evening, officials said.

Aneela Zahoor, 12, fell victim to the firing in Nari Dhroti village of Nakyal sector in the southern Kotli district, SSP Chaudhry Zulqarnain Sarfraz said.

Robina Khalid, 30, was injured in Dotilla Dabsi village.

Both the injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Kotli, he added.

The SSP said that firing started without any provocation when people of the area were preparing to break their fast.

“It was targeted firing,” he said, referring to the practice of Indian troops of hitting civilians living in proximity of the LoC with small- and medium-size weapons.
