KHAIRPUR: Five passengers, including two children, were killed and three others were injured when a van overturned near Pir Budhrro village on old National Highway on Friday after one of its tyres deflated.

The deceased were identified as Aftab Shah, 30, Ali Hyder, 35, Islamuddin Siyal (van driver), six-year-old Shazia Shar and seven-year-old Bakhtawar Gopang. Of the three injured only one was identified (Aijaz Gopang) while the other two remain unidentified.

The dead bodies and the injured were taken to Thari Mirwah hospital where the injured were provided treatment while the bodies were handed over to relatives after legal formalities.

Eyewitnesses said the van which was on its way from Sukkur to Nawabshah was also carrying mango boxes on its back seats.
