PESHAWAR: A student of the Frontier Scouts Cadet College, Warsak Road, topped the Secondary School Certificate results announced by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar, here on Wednesday.
The result was declared in the auditorium of the University Public School. According to the results, the top three position holding students are from the science group.
Umar Anwar of the Frontier Scouts Cadet College obtained 1,048 marks out of 1.100, clinching the overall first position. Jalwa Akbar of the Peshawar Model School Charsadda and Karishma Basir of Frontier Science Academy, Hayatabad, got second and third positions with 1,047 and 1,045 marks, respectively.
Only girls students got top three positions in the humanities group. Hafiza Ayesha Bibi and Hafsa Rifaqat Ali, students of Iqra Huffaz Secondary School and College for Girls, Warsak Road, got first and second positions with 1,001 and 990 marks, respectively.
The third position was shared by Laiba Rehman of Peshawar Model Girls School-II Dalazak Road, and Hafiza Huda Habib of Iqra Huffaz Secondary School and College for Girls as both got 977 marks each.
According to the results, overall 72.68 per cent students qualified the examinations. A total of 50,672 students appeared in the examinations from the science group. Of them 41,247 students (81.40pc) qualified.
Similarly, 21,677 students appeared in the humanities group, of them 11,367 students (52.44pc) remained successful.
Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Dr Mehar Taj Roghani was the chief guest at the ceremony, which was also attended by controller examinations Hameedullah Jan, other board officials, parents and relatives of the position holding students.
On the occasion, Dr Roghani said the education sector was in poor state when the PTI-led provincial government found took over four years ago.
“Around 700 schools were destroyed by militants and thousands of schools had no boundary walls and clean drinking water,” she said, alleging in the previous government, public sector employees were posted on important posts in violation of merit. With the reforms introduced by PTI, she said, the education sector had improved sufficiently.
