RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) on Wednesday sealed poultry slaughterhouse besides imposing Rs80,000 fine on two food catering services for making food in unhygienic condition and served notices to five marriage halls.

RCB spokesman Qaisar Mehmood told Dawn that food branch of RCB visited the catering services and marriage halls kitchens and slaughter house at Misrial Road, Range Road and adjoining areas found their condition unhygienic.

He said that slaughterhouse was sealed as the chickens were slaughtered in unhygienic conditions and they did not have the RCB licence. He said that the health certificates of the workers were mandatory and the owner of the slaughterhouse did not get the medical certificate of his workers.

He said that the condition of the food catering services and imposed fines worth Rs80,000 on them including Allah Rakha food Catering Service Rs50,000 and Khalid bakery kitchen Rs30,000 for bad condition as the food was preparing from rotten edibles.

He said that the samples of the food had been taken from the food outlets and dispatched to Lahore for laboratory test. He said that the cases would be filed after receiving the laboratory test.
