The Little Mermaid Live!

The Little Mermaid Live! will air on ABC in October as a “live action/animation hybrid television experience.” The network announced plans in a press release for a live musical adaptation of the 1989 animated Disney movie. The two-hour special event will premiere on October 3.

The original Little Mermaid starred Jodi Benson as the voice of Ariel, with music by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. The new version will feature songs from the original film, although the cast has yet to be announced. The Little Mermaid Live! is the first live musical to head to ABC.

Niall Horan hopes 1D will reunite

One Direction member Niall Horan hopes the group will reunite in ‘the next few years.’

The 23-year-old Irish singer said that he’s ready to drop his solo career once the British boy band decides to get back together.

“I told my managers from the start: When One Direction comes knocking... even if I sold out arenas or won Grammys. I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for that,” he told.

One Direction has been an indefinite hiatus since December 2015. Horan confessed he and bandmates Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson haven’t “even had a conversation” about when they will reunite.

“When it will be, I don’t know. I prefer not to do it after I’m 40. I’d prefer the next few years,” he said. Horan is presently focused on his solo music.
