Skitch

Verb (informal)

Definition: Hold on to the back of a moving motor vehicle so as to be pulled along while riding a skateboard, bicycle, etc.

Examples: “We skitched on the back of a passing car.”

“I never said skitching was without risks.”

“These kids act foolish, I often see them skitching even in the heavy traffic.”

“I need to tell the mum of this young fellow, who skitches everyday behind my truck.”

Origin: 1950s: blend of skate or ski (with reference to being pulled along while sliding on snow or ice) and hitch.
