LAHORE: Journalist and playwright Asif Ali Pota died of illness here on Saturday. He was 53.

Asif Pota had started his journalistic career from daily Jang. He had married the popular singer of those times, Naheed Akhtar, in 1995.

In the 90s, he had also contested local body election from Allama Iqbal Town. Recently, he was working with the electronic media conducting a show named ‘Main Hon Baaghi with Asif Ali Pota’, according to Baghi TV website.

His funeral procession will be taken out from his residence -- 329, Nishtar Block, and funeral prayers will be held in Masjid Allahwali, Karim Block, Allama Iqbal Town, today (Sunday) at 1:30pm.
