RAWALPINDI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will soon start special flights for Gilgit and Skardu to promote tourism in northern areas.

This was stated by adviser to Prime Minister on Aviaiton Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Abbasi during a meeting with Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman in Islamabad on Friday.

A press release of the aviation quoting the adviser said it was decided in the meeting that PIA would collaborate with tourism department of GB in this regard.

Sardar Mehtab Ahmad said that Pakistan was known for its beautiful scenes in northern areas which can be truly called a visitor’s paradise. Gilgit-Baltistan is also known for a number of historic places which are worth visiting.

Mr Mehtab said that special PIA flights for Gilgit and Skardu would help promote the tourism in northern areas.

He said that these special flights will not only strengthen the country’s economy but present the soft and positive image of Pakistan.

He stressed that all possible measures would be taken to promote tourism activities in hilly areas.
