LAHORE: Pakistan volleyball team is all set to leave for Doha in the small hours of Sunday for back-to-back two international assignments.
Pakistan Volleyball Federation president Mohammad Yaqoob said Pakistan would play two matches against hosts Qatar and one against Iraq before leaving for Saurabaya, Indonesia, to feature in the Asian Volleyball Championships to be held from July 24 to Aug 1.
He said Pakistan team had a good chance to perform well in the Asian event as they are well prepared under Iranian coach Hamid Movahedi.
“The team with some tall and fit players is young and has the potential to perform well in future,” he said.
“These boys performed well in recently-held Islamic Solidarity Games at Baku, Azerbaijan, where besides winning against Turkmenistan and Palestine, they played a five-set match against the leading team of Turkey.” he further said.
He said currently Pakistan is ranked 10th at the Asian level, adding 16 teams were participating in the Asian contest.
