QUETTA: Four suspected terrorists were killed in a gun battle with security forces in a village near the Afghan border in Zhob district.

Security officials said here on Sunday that a group of terrorists had attacked checkposts of the Frontier Corps in the border village in Karez Qamarudin tehsil late on Saturday night. They used heavy weapons in the attack.

The FC personnel deployed in the area returned fire and repulsed the attack.

“Heavy exchange of fire took place between the security forces and the armed men,” the officials said, adding that four terrorists were killed in the gun battle.

“Security forces foiled the attack,” the ISPR confirmed and said the security forces had killed four terrorists.

A large quantity of arms and ammunition was seized. No security man was killed or injured in the attack, the officials said.

The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the armed attack on the checkposts and claimed that security forces had suffered human losses.
