LAHORE: Hearing of the Sharjeel Khan spot-fixing case is complete and lawyers of both sides will submit their written arguments till July 29 after which verdict of the case will be announced in the next 30 days.

“Before the tribunal, Sharjeel admitted his involvement in several wrongdoings while playing the second edition of the Pakistan Super League,” claimed PCB counsel on Monday.

He added that the Board had clear evidence against the cricketer and he could not escape punishment.

The attorney further said Sharjeel’s lawyer had taken a stand that his client could not inform the PCB about his meeting with a bookie because the meeting took place just five hours before the spot-fixing case erupted while the cricketer had 24 hours to report it to the Board.

Meanwhile, to a question about another accused cricketer Nasir Jamshed, the lawyer said the cricketer was so far only facing the charge of not cooperating with the tribunal by not appearing before it.

“Once Nasir appears, the PCB will charge him,” he said.

The PCB claims Nasir is the main culprit between spot-fixing at PSL 2. He has so far not appeared before the tribunal but he is being interrogated by the England National Crime Agency in London which has reportedly seized his passport.

Meanwhile, Sharjeel’s counsel expressed hope the decision would come in his client’s favour and he was satisfied with the entire proceedings of the case.

He claimed that the PCB had failed to prove any allegation on his client.

The attorney added that all the witnesses of the PCB gave their statements before the tribunal after reading the statement of the head of the PCB Anti-corruption Department, Colonel Azam.
