KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation on Tuesday sent a seven day notice to M/s Funrama Arts and Entertainment to shut down a cinema and other allied activities in the building of the Islamic Cultural Centre.

A statement issued by the KMC says that Mayor Wasim Akhtar has said that the building of the Islamic Cultural Centre would be restored to its original shape under the orders of the Supreme Court and other directives of the court in this regard would also be fully implemented.

He said that if Funrama Arts and Entertainment did not follow the directives and did not stop its activities in the building within seven days, the KMC would initiate action with the help of its anti-encroachment department.

A cinema has been functioning for the past few years in the building that had originally been constructed by the KMC for the Islamic Cultural Centre.
