A FEW thousand dead fish in the Rawal dam indicated the water was poisoned by someone, as a result of which the water supply to Rawalpindi was stopped on July 15 until the receipt of laboratory report.

Tubewells were operated to their full capacity to meet the water demand. However, the areas which were entirely dependent on the Rawal dam remained without water for several hours till July 16. This included the vast area of Rawalpindi Cantonment.

This is a timely warning that the dam water could be posioned by enemy agents.

I hope the relevant authorities will immediately plan tubewells for the areas which are entirely dependent on the Rawal dam.
