KARACHI: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sikandar Shoro on Wednesday said the provincial government would spend Rs50 million during this financial year to provide free Wi-Fi facility to general public at the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Park in Clifton.

Dr Shoro said the Sindh government had made all efforts to modernise the IT sector. In the next phase, he said, the IT department had planned to extend Wi-Fi facility to other parts of Karachi as well as the rest of Sindh.

To encourage research among students, he said, the Sindh government had allocated Rs40.51m for the establishment of research incubator machines in public-sector varsities and institutions.

In the first phase, latest research incubator machi­nes would be installed in a university in Jamshoro, he said, adding that the incubators would help students in their research projects.
