SARGODHA: The University of Sargodha syndicate on Tuesday approved the annual budget to the tune of Rs4.3 billion.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad briefed the syndicate members about the budget and expressed satisfaction over the financial health of the university.

The meeting approved appointments for University College of Engineering & Technology and Pharmacy.

The syndicate accorded approval to shifting and merger of departments of Punjabi and Persian with the Urdu department under the new title department of Urdu and oriental languages.

It approved the merger of Arabic department with Islamic Studies naming it department of Arabic and Islamic studies.

MPAs Nadia Aziz, Muhammad Waris Kallo, Ghazanfar Abbas Cheena, Higher Education Additional Secretary Sheikh Tanveer Jabar, the representative of HEC Islamabad Mehmoodul Hassan Butt, Divisional Director Local Fund and Audit Muhammad Shafiq, District Educational Authority CEO Muhammad Azhar Khan, representative of Sargodha BISE Sarfraz Gujjar, Principal Government Postgraduate College, Mianwali, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Niazi and others also attended the meeting.

REHAB CENTRE: A 30-bed rehabilitation centre is being set up in civil dispensary, New Satellite, at a cost of Rs20 million in order to make drug addicts useful citizens.

Inspecting the site [of the centre] here on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Liaquat Ali Chatha said: “Drug addiction and drug trafficking is very alarming and it is spoiling the society, therefore, it has been decided to set up a rehabilitation centre with the collaboration of the health department.

The DC also inspected the ongoing construction of gymkhana club and food street [on the pattern of Lahore] and directed to complete the work within the stipulated period.

He directed the respective department to initially allocate Rs10 million for renovation of Company Bagh, the sole recreational park in the city.
