OKARA: The locomotive of the Sialkot-to-Karachi Allama Iqbal Express broke down at the Okara City Railway Station on Thursday.
The train arrived at the railway station at 2pm when its engine developed some fault leaving hundreds of passengers stranded in the hot, muggy weather.
The railways authorities arranged an alternative locomotive which resumed the journey after a delay of three hours.
KILLED: A gunman was shot dead by the bullets of his own accomplices late on Wednesday in village 43/2-L, according to police.
Some gunmen rushed to the farmhouse of Naveed in village 43/2-L and tried to take away his cattle heads. As Naveed raised alarm, the gunmen tried to escape taking the cover of firing. One bullet hit their own accomplice leaving him dead at the scene. Shahbhoor police registered a case.
CASES: Three owners of two workshops were booked under the Punjab Restriction on Employment of Children Act of 2016 by the City B-Division police on Thursday.
Labour Assistant Director Muhammad Ishaq Haider with other staff visited Nadeem Sewing Machine Parts Engineering Works and found Talha (11), Saud (12) and Mohsin Ali (12) under age children employed there.
The unit is owned by Muhammad Ashiq Mughal and Asif Ali. The team also visited Mughal Zarai Engineering Works, owned by Muhammad Latif Mughal, on GT Road and found Muhammad Ahmad (11) employed there.
Cases were registered under section 3 of the act of 2016.
