Two new Harry Potter-themed books on the way

Britain’s Bloomsbury Publishing says it plans to release two, new Harry Potter-themed books this fall.

“We’re thrilled to share the covers for the two tie-in books accompanying the #BLHarryPotter Exhibition at The British Library this October,” the company said on its Facebook page.

The message accompanied the cover images of two volumes — Harry Potter: A Journey Through the History of Magic and Harry Potter: A History of Magic — The Book of the Exhibition.

The books are related to J.K. Rowling’s blockbuster, Harry Potter fantasy series, which contained seven tomes and inspired eight movies, as well as the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film franchise.

The British Library’s Harry Potter: A History of Magic exhibition is to open on October 20, to coincide with the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone original book’s 20th anniversary.

“Step into our exhibition, Harry Potter: A History of Magic, and discover bewitching items and artefacts in an experience inspired by subjects taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,” the library’s website said.

Meet the thirteenth Doctor!

It is announced that Jodie Whittaker will play the 13th incarnation of the Doctor on the BBC’s sci-fi series, Doctor Who. The BBC released a minute-long video of a cloaked figure walking through a forest towards the Doctor’s signature blue telephone box spaceship, the Tardis.

At the last moment, the person takes down its hood to reveal the smiling, 35-year-old actress with blonde, instead of her usually brown, coloured hair.

The video was captioned, “Meet the Thirteenth Doctor.”

Head writer and executive producer Chris Chibnall said. “I always knew I wanted the Thirteenth Doctor to be a woman and we’re thrilled to have secured our No. 1 choice. Her audition for the Doctor simply blew us all away. Jodie is an in-demand, funny, inspiring, super-smart force of nature and will bring loads of wit, strength and warmth to the role. The Thirteenth Doctor is on her way.”

Aladdin live-action movie casting announced

Yes, the leads Aladdin, Jasmine, and the genie have been cast. Disney revealed long-awaited information about the upcoming live-action Aladdin movie.

Naomi Scott, best known as the Pink Power Ranger, will play Jasmine; Egyptian-Canadian actor Mena Massoud will play Aladdin, and Will Smith to play the genie.

People are predictably excited about Smith’s potential to portray a hilarious genie, and though Massoud isn’t super well-known, they’re glad Disney cast an Egyptian actor. Many people think (Aladdin and Jasmine), “These characters are Middle Eastern. It looks like they’ve fulfilled at least half of that promise.”

Aladdin is set to begin shooting in August in London. Disney is currently on the hunt for villain Jafar, who will likely be played by a famous actor. Other roles yet to be filled include the Sultan and Jafar’s sidekick, Iago.
