QUETTA: The days of corruption and corrupt elements are numbered as institutions that provide justice are gaining strength, said the director general of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Balochistan, Irfan Naeem Mangi, on Thursday. He added that no one was above the law.

Presiding over the first meeting about the Quetta Development Authority’s (QDA) rules, regulations and reforms, Mr Mangi offered to help remove faulty rules and regulations of the QDA and other provincial departments.

“NAB is ready to help improve laws governing and regulating various departments and institutions, including the QDA,” he said.

Mr Mangi pointed out that projects such as the Hazar Ganji Bus Terminal had been destroyed as a result of corruption.

“It has damaged the pace of economic development and deprived the common man of basic civic services and facilities,” he said, adding that they had to ensure that future generations had a bright future by serving honestly otherwise they would also become part of a corrupt system.

The meeting was also attended by Additional Finance Secretary Ishaq Jamali, Additional Planning and Development Secretary Mohammad Hayat, the additional secretary for communications and works and the QDA’s director.
