CHITRAL: PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address a public meeting at the Chitral Polo Ground on August 5 in his maiden visit to the district after assuming the office.

Addressing a news conference here the other day, PPP MPAs from Chitral Salim Khan and Syed Sardar Hussain said all arrangements had been made for Bilawal’s public meeting.

They said people from across the region would attend the Aug 5 public meeting in large numbers irrespective of their political affiliations and other considerations.

The lawmakers said the PPP chairman would be accorded a warm welcome during his maiden visit to the district after assuming the office.

They said it was an honor for the people of Chitral that the PPP chairman had selected their region to start his mass political campaign.

Meanwhile, the elders and local body leaders of Karimabad valley have demanded action against Chitral DC for what they called supporting those responsible for degeneration of environment.

Addressing a news conference here, former zila naib nazim Sultan Shah, member of zila council Yaqub Khan and elders said eleven years ago, the villagers of Karimabad had made an agreement with Shahzada Haiderul Mulk banning the presence of goats in the valley to conserve environment and stop flash floods.

They said Shahzada Haider however broke the written agreement unilaterally a month ago and came to the valley with a herd of 345 goats and began grazing with the support of Chitral DC Shahab Hamid Yusufzai.

They demanded action against the two for degenerating environment in the valley.

CJ VISIT: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi visited Chitral the other day and inspected the district courts and addressed the district bar association.

He said the lower judiciary was being strengthened in the far-flung areas.

He announced the establishment of a model court in Booni, the sub-divisional headquarters of Mastuj tehsil.
