LAHORE: The Kuwait Water Association (KWA) has sought cooperation of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) for a plan to dispose of waste cooking oil for producing biodiesel.

The PFA continues to run a special drive in the province for collection of used cooking oil by those engaged in the production of the biodiesel in the country. The core objective behind this move is to stop reuse of the recycled oil by the restaurants and eateries as the practice causes cancer.

In a letter to PFA director general, KWA Executive Director Dr Ahmad Al-Kofahi writes: “I have learnt a lot from our intern in Pakistan about the remarkable progress of your team on substantial social, environment and administrative landmarks. Especially, I want to highlight the administrative and planning approach of the PFA in the delicate matter of waste cooking oil and it beautifully made the way out of such evil deed by contributing it to the society in the form of biodiesel”.

Mr Al-Kofahi sought assistance of the PFA in form of available statistics, engagements with the investors, logistics and surveillance hitherto planned.
