Are UFO’s real?
This is with reference to the cover story “Are UFOs real?” by Ambreen Arshad (YW, July 8). Although not a UFO sighting, probably the most peculiar detection of extraterrestrial life was the “Wow Signal.” This signal of nearly 1420 MHz, received in August 15, 1977, and lasting about 72 seconds. The Wow signal was received by Big Ear telescope located in Perkins Observatory, Delware, Ohio.
The signal itself was found to have no meaning but a signal with more energy than normal background radiation was certainly a great discovery. There were many theories trying to explain the signal.
One of these was that a signal from earth was reflected by a celestial object. This explanation was very doubtful since such a reflection is not possible.
To be honest the origin of this signal may never be known. Firstly due to the fact that the Big Ear probably had not detected the complete signal because of Earth’s rotation (a signal of only 72 seconds can be detected) so the signal could have been much longer. Secondly, all we know is that the signal came from the Sagittarius constellation, but nothing more.
No other such signal was ever received. Even though scientist dismissed numerous sightings, this has always perplexed them and is regarded as genuine. So is there extraterrestrial life? Are they searching for us too? We may never know.

A little help spreads smile
This is regarding the story “A little help spreads smile” by Muneeba Ismail Kharbey (YW, July 8). The story was beautifully written.
A single deed of kindness is a best thing you can ever do for others, it spreads smiles on others’ faces and it also purifies your soul.
If you lend a hand to someone, you also get happiness. The essence of life is to serve humanity.
The only religion of kindness is love, it is a language which even a deaf can hear and a blind can see. Therefore, be the reason of someone’s smile today.

Personalised letters
This is regarding the wonder craft “Personalised letters” by Asif Ali (YW, July 8).
It was a wonderful craft.
I loved it so I tried to follow the steps and directions and made my personal letters ‘A’ and ‘S’ as mentioned in the article.
The letters look so beautiful and my family is surprised to see what I have made.

Turbat
