Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) will set up training camps in three different categories for junior players with the aim to bring forth new talent, PTF Secretary Sanaullah Aman said on Thursday.

“We have plenty of talent and a great potential; what we need is to provide opportunities to our youngsters,” the newly appointed PTF secretary told APP.

He said that the training camp for junior players would be divided into three different categories based on age brackets. “Players would be shortlisted for the national team based on their performance in the camp,” he said.

Aman hoped that the training camps would help bring young talented players to the fore and would also encourage the game of tennis in the country.

Speaking about the Davis Cup tie between Pakistan and Thailand scheduled for September in Pakistan, Aman said that he is hopeful that Pakistan would beat Thailand.

“Pakistan will field Aqeel Khan, Aisamul Haq and other talented players in the Davis Cup tie final against Thailand,” he said.

Aman said that in order to bring international players to Pakistan, talks would be also made with the International Tennis Federation.
