ISLAMABAD, Aug 15: President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali have greeted the Indian president and premier on the occasion of India’s 56th anniversary of independence from the British colonial rule.

In his message to Indian President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, President Musharraf said: “Excellency, on behalf of the people of Pakistan and on my own, I wish to convey to you and the people of India our felicitations on the Independence Day of India. Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration.”

Mr Jamali, in his message to Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, extended warmest greetings on behalf of his government and all Pakistanis to him and the people of India on the occasion of their Independence Day.—APP
