GUJRANWALA, Aug 15: The judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court No 1, Syed Iftikhar Husain Shah, on Friday sent the Sialkot jail former superintendent on a six-day judicial remand.
Former jail official Chaudhry Sikandar Hayat was arrested by the Civil Lines police on Aug 5, and produced in court for seeking physical remand. As the date of remand expired, the court sent him to the Sialkot jail on a judicial remand.
The court also directed the authorities concerned to include Asghar Ali, one of the suspects, in the investigation into the incident. He was shifted to the Sialkot jail the same day.
The court, in the meanwhile, continued hearing of the circus fire case against the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal activists.
MMA MNA Qazi Hameedullah, Jamaat-i-Islami Senior Vice-President Hafiz Hameeduddin Awan and 18 other activists were involved in the case.
As the prosecution failed to produce evidence, the court adjourned the hearing till Sept 4.
THREE HELD: Agriculture officials with the help of police caught three dealers red-handed in Wanhdo on Friday selling substandard pesticides.
Some farmers had lodged a complaint with the provincial food minister during his visit to flood-hit areas a few days ago that they were being supplied with substandard pesticides as a result of which their crops had been damaged.
The minister directed the agriculture department highups to take action in this regard.
A raiding team, headed by the district officer (agriculture), conducted a raid and recovered 116 bags of substandard pesticides from Afzal, Imtiaz and Rafiq.
They were arrested by the police.
ELECTROCUTED: A woman was electrocuted in Farid Town here on Friday.
Mudassar Bibi received a shock when she accidentally touched a live wire. She died on way to hospital.
