Snooker victory

Published August 19, 2017

IT is with great pride that our snooker team won an all-Pakistan victory with gold, silver and bronze medals at the IBSF World 6-Reds and Team Snooker Championship in Egypt.

However, the sad part is that no one received them on their return to Pakistan, no recognition or laurels or awards. This is really pathetic and heart-breaking for the players who, in spite of this, say they will continue to bring laurels for their country.

This is the sad story in all fields. In sports it is pathetic. As for soccer, my father, Khwaja Nooruddin, Secretary of the Mohammadan Sporting Club in pre-partition India, tried to promote football to carry on the tradition of this great game.

The pre-partition team in Kolkata had players from Peshawar, Balochistan and Sindh.

We apologise to the snooker team and say “We are proud of you.”
