Pakistan completed seventy years on the world map this year, and celebrations have been going on throughout the month of August to celebrate the occasion.

One brand managed to go an extra mile in a unique show of patriotism — the English Business Manufacturers (EBM) family set a new Guinness World Record by putting together the world’s largest 'cookie mosaic' in the shape of Pakistan's national flag.

Peek Freans Sooper cookies were used to lay out the huge flag mosaic on August 14.

The flag, made with more than 150,000 cookies in green and white, measured 2,438.15 square feet and was completed in a total of 6.5 hours.

Upon completion, all of the biscuits used were distributed in custom-built containers to notable charities across Pakistan.

According to the CEO of EBM, the campaign had a bigger purpose than just making a Guiness record.

“We are a nation that is continuously rebuilding, reshaping and pushing forward — no matter what the odds. Our campaign, ‘Sooper Hai Pakistan’, seeks to highlight this by disseminating content that is the exact opposite of what the popular media continues to cover," said Dr Zeelaf Munir, managing director and CEO of EBM.

Apart from the team of EBM, leading celebrities joined in the making of the flag, including Younis Khan, Shoaib Akhtar, Adnan Siddiqui, Hareem Farooq and Mira Sethi.

Throughout the activity, safety and hygiene were given prime importance, as the cookies were to be donated once the flag was completed. To make sure that the quality standards were not compromised, the entire process was overseen by independent witnesses including a health and hygiene inspector and a surveyor from Islamabad.

The activity ended with the team finally getting confirmation that they had made it into the official record books with the largest flag created entirely out of cookies.

Indeed, quite a sweet way to rejoice in Azaadi celebrations of Pakistan's 70th year.
