SKARDU: The final round of the cold desert jeep rally was held at Sarfa Ranga area of Shigar district here on Sunday, participated by 72 jeep drivers and 20 motorcyclists from across the country.

A category driver Babar Khan won the 30-kilometre race, covering the distance in 18 minutes and 25 seconds. Qadir Nawaz and Aamir Magsi secured second and third positions, respectively.

The race began at 9am and continued till 4pm, watched by thousands of spectators coming from various parts of Baltistan. A large number of tourists from down country also enjoyed the first ever cold desert jeep rally in Baltistan.

The GB administration had deployed rescue and medical teams at several points of the track to deal with any unpleasant incident.
